March 11, 2017 – The ‘Super Colby’ 5k Race was started to honor the memory of Colby Young, a 10th grader at Charlotte Christian School who passed away late 2016 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 8th grade, but also for all children who are fighting childhood illnesses.
Two cross-country runners who also attended Charlotte Christian were so inspired by the teen’s battle with cancer, they decided to create the race in his honor.
The ‘Super Colby’ 5K raised money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Fund to help other children like Colby. Bass Dunklin was a 2017 Gold Sponsor. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in Ashville, NC. Additional details about the Race’s mission can be found here.
